Our club
We’re a newly established Probus Club (started in March 2025), now with over 100 members from around bayside (male, female and couples, mainly in our 60’s and 70’s), who enjoy socialising, getting out and about, and having a few laughs.
We are member of the Probus South Pacific network of clubs across Australia and New Zealand. We are a not-for-profit, non-political and non-fundraising club governed by our members and committee.

Our community
Governed by our members and elected management committee, the Mentone Probus Club is all about fun, friendship and fellowship for semi-retired and retired people from our local community. Established in 2025, we now have over a 100 members.
Monthly meetings
Our monthly members meetings are a key highlight of our calendar, featuring a guest speaker, morning tea, club updates, and details about upcoming events—followed by a delicious catered lunch. Members meet on the third Tuesday of the month at the Mentone Lifesaving Club.
Club activities
Our club activities range from relaxed coffee catch-ups and friendly walking groups to frequent lunches, dinners, and visits to the cinema, theatre, and museums. We’re proud to play an active role in the community, supporting and promoting local businesses to our members.

About Probus
Probus was founded in the United Kingdom by Rotary clubs starting in 1965 to provide retired and semi-retired people with social fellowship and mental stimulation. The name comes from the first three letters of “professional” and “business”. The movement spread from the UK to other countries, arriving in New Zealand in 1974 and Australia in 1976.
The first Probus Club in Australia was the Probus Club of Hunters Hill formed in 1976, which is still going strong with over 100 members.
Probus South Pacific, the umbrella organisation is a not-for-profit organisation with Clubs in all States and Territories of Australia. Now with a network of 1,400 clubs in Australia, Probus provides 100,000 retirees and semi-retirees the opportunity to connect socially, exploring new interests, and maintain an active role in the community.
For more information visit the Probus South Pacific website.
Our committee
Committee members are elected by the membership and appointed at the Annual General Meeting held each March or when a vacancy occurs.
